Outbreak Creator Tool Receives New Graphics, Features, and Pathogens
Operation Outbreak today launched a major update to Outbreak Creator, the tool educators, facilitators, and partners use to design the custom simulations that power Operation Outbreak experiences.
The updated Outbreak Creator introduces three new pathogens — H5N1, meningitis, and hantavirus — giving users more flexibility to build simulations around a range of scenarios. The release also includes a more streamlined user journey, updated graphics, and expanded in-tool information that provides users clearer insight into the simulation parameters they create.
Alongside the update, Operation Outbreak also published a new enhanced Simulation Guidebook, making it easier than ever for facilitators to plan, run, and debrief Operation Outbreak simulations.
Along with Outbreak Visualizer and Lookout, Outbreak Creator is one of the three web-based tools that enable the Operation Outbreak platform, allowing users to configure the conditions that shape each outbreak experience. By adjusting the simulated pathogen and scarcity of countermeasures, facilitators can design outbreak scenarios that help participants explore core infectious disease concepts such as transmission, incubation, intervention strategies, and public health decision-making.
The update is designed to make that process more intuitive and informative. With improved graphics and a streamlined user experience, users can better understand how their choices influence the simulation experience before it begins.
Together, the new Outbreak Creator and guidebook are intended to help users run stronger, more accessible, and more educationally meaningful simulations. They are available online at sims.operationoutbreak.org.
